My peeps

I won a challenge over at Paper smooches a few weeks ago and the prize was a generous gift certificate. I spent it on My peeps and the coordinating dies. Of course, since I was paying the shipping anyway I ordered a few extra goodies as well *wink*

Work it Wednesday

The theme for this month's Work it Wednesday is "Refreshment". Inspired by Laura Bassen's cool card the other day, I inked up a piece of cardstock in a rainbow of colors and then die cut it with a full card die. I added a nice, cool, refreshing drink to sip in the summer sun.

CAS(E) this sketch #129

I really liked this week's sketch over at CAS(E) this sketch:

I flipped the sketch over and substituted the vertical sentiment with a strip of patterned paper.

The patterned paper, stickers and stamps are all part of the June Simon says stamp kit.

CAS-ology

It's been a while since I hade time (or energy) to play with the gals at CAS-ology but this week's word was to good to pass up on:

And here's my take, a little sail boat (and sentment) from Lawn fawn that I stamped on vellum, die cut and then paper pieced the sails from some Doodlebug patterned paper. The watercolored background is actually a left over piece from another card coming up in a few days.

Paper smooches - Anything goes

Edit:  Click here for the outcome

So, my husband and my daughter are one their way to Nice. For some odd reason they'd rather spend the next two weeks down there instead of waiting around in Stockholm until my vacation starts. It's a win-win situation: they get to spend their time on the beach, I get to be by myself for two weeks. That hasn't happened in.... oh, 15 years or so. An added bonus is I get to fly down. Three hours on a plane vs three days in a car....

Anywho, with them gone I can spend as much time at the craft table as I like. I jotted down a few of the challenges going on out there and went into a card making frenzy. This first card is for Paper Smooches' "Anything goes"-challenge:

I heat embossed one of the flowers from the "Twiggy florets" set repeatedly on the back panel and also once on some watercolor cardstock.  The coloring is done with distress ink pads and a waterbrush: Cracked pistaschio, Mermaid lagoon and Worn lipstick.

Hello!

I think these three friends from the "Birthday buddies" set where perfect for some partial stamping in tiny little stitched squares. They look like the kind of friends that'll just show up outside your door and scare the bejeebers out of you. I just wish I had a sentiment that said "surprise!" instead of "hello"...

This is my entry in Hobbyworld's March challenge, to interpret a sketch made by the ever fabulous Tettiz:

Aloha!

This week's cue word at CAS-ology is "Tropical". I sort of knew right away what I wanted to do but I didn't have any stamps or dies that supported my idea. But lo and behold! Through the door comes the Mister with my latest Simon says stamp kit and in that kit there's a flower themed stamp set with a few images that I think are sort of hibiscus-y.

Please ignore the wanky colors in the main photo. I did what I know I'm not supposed to be doing - touching the color adjustment buttons. And of course I managed to hit "save" instead of "undo".... Lazy bum that I am I couldn't work up the energy to take a new photo so please, in your mind apply the colors in the detail shot to the main photo as well.

CAS(E) this sketch #112

This week's sketch at CAS(E) this sketch looks like this:

I don't think my card turned out very clean & simple but I like it so I'm entering it anyway, CAS or no CAS!

Work it Wednesday

Thank goodness it isn't work out Wednesday, than I would so not be participating. Not saying it wouldn't do me a world of good but anyhow.
The theme for this month's challenge is Spring and after using my "Flower garden" set for a very somber card I felt I needed to use them for something a bit more cheerful. I whipped out my trusted watercolor paper and my distress ink pads and came up with this:

I just wish I'd had some transparent vellum on hand instead of this silver shimmery stuff but it had to do. (As a matter of fact, IRL you can actually see some of the watercoloring through the vellum.)

Simon Wednesday challenge feat. Lawn fawn

Using Lawn fawn products actually wasn't a must for this "Anything goes" challenge but since I have a set or two (ehem... or more like 17....) I thought I'd put them to use. For this card I tried my hand at some no line coloring. That was fun! You'll definitely see more of that in future posts.

Paper smooches SPARKS - Designer draft

This week's challenge over att Paper Smooches was a lovely sketch:
I made a starry backdrop with my distress ink pads over some heat embossed stars. Once it was dry I removed the embossing "plastic" with a good and hot iron. After die cutting the window I decided this card was calling out to me: "I neeed to be a shaker card!" And who am I to refuse such a plea?

I actually tried my hand at some partial die cutting for the stars on the frame but after throwing quite a lot of paper in the bin I decided to do what I do best: cheat!

The flames are stamped thrice and cut out, one smaller than the next, and mounted with foam squares.

Simon Wednesday challenge

And since Simon's Wednesday challenge closes in 15 minutes I'll give you another blog post right away. This week's challenge is "add a little texture" which I did on my perfect bow by running it through an embossing folder, Linear, from Lifestyle crafts. Also, the backdrop has some texture from the stencil.

CAS-ology mini

I'm back! My scrappy crafty weekend was absolutely fabolous - wonderful people, good food, inspiration in abundance and more than a lot of laughs. I think I made 13 cards but I'm going to start off by showing you one that I made after returning home. This weeks word at CAS-ology is "mini". My mind instantly leapt to the the teeny tiny stitched squares in my set, the ones I didn't really know what to do with, and my interpretation is three little squares over a watercolor background. The butterflies and the chevron stripes on the back panel are stamped with gesso, giving a kind of resist effect.

Thanks for stopping by!
