My peeps

I won a challenge over at Paper smooches a few weeks ago and the prize was a generous gift certificate. I spent it on My peeps and the coordinating dies. Of course, since I was paying the shipping anyway I ordered a few extra goodies as well *wink*

Nerdy

Glitter cardstock - gotta love it. Self adhesive glitter cardstock - gotta love it even more!!

Ps. Today I'm depressed. Today is my first day back at work after a four week vacation. To be honest, I think I need another four weeks. Luckily it's a four day week since I have Friday off to go to a wedding. Maybe, just maybe, I'll make it through the week.

Total CASE 1

Coming back from our vacation I had some pent up scrap energy to let loose. As I didn't know where to start I headed over to Pinterest for a short cut and some inspiration. After CASE:ing two cards I found my bearings and was able to keep goina aaaall by myself.

Wedding bells 1

My sister is getting married in a few weeks time. That's an occasion to make a card if I ever saw one. I made this one, with Paper smooches supplies and a lot of water coloring, but I wasn't really happy with how it came out so I've made another one - compleeeetely different. That one I'll post after the wedding, just in case she decides to pay my blog a visit.

Lovey-dovey

I just had to make this lovey-dovey card with my new border dies from Paper smooches. The letters and the rectangles are from Lawn fawn and the heart is a suuuper old Quickutz set, Nesting hearts.

Here goes...

... with one of my first Zig attempts. For this card I used only one color per item but diluted it with water to get some shading. This card is inspired by a beatiful card by the very talented Yana Smakula. Check out her blog if your unfamiliar with her work.

Paper smooches - Anything goes

Edit:  Click here for the outcome

So, my husband and my daughter are one their way to Nice. For some odd reason they'd rather spend the next two weeks down there instead of waiting around in Stockholm until my vacation starts. It's a win-win situation: they get to spend their time on the beach, I get to be by myself for two weeks. That hasn't happened in.... oh, 15 years or so. An added bonus is I get to fly down. Three hours on a plane vs three days in a car....

Anywho, with them gone I can spend as much time at the craft table as I like. I jotted down a few of the challenges going on out there and went into a card making frenzy. This first card is for Paper Smooches' "Anything goes"-challenge:

I heat embossed one of the flowers from the "Twiggy florets" set repeatedly on the back panel and also once on some watercolor cardstock.  The coloring is done with distress ink pads and a waterbrush: Cracked pistaschio, Mermaid lagoon and Worn lipstick.

Paper piecing

I have a weakness for pretty patterned paper. A weakness bordering on hoarder tendencies. For the last 6 months or so I've been able to contain myself as I've come to realize that I don't use patterned paper any more. Well, a small strip of it here and there but considering my stash I'm good 'til kingdom come - and then some!

Buuuut .... then Anna decided to stock some of Lawn Fawns' papers and of course my good intentions came to nothing. I ended up buying both the Beachside stack AND the Let's polka stack. In order to justify my puchase I ended up with a card  where I went completely berserk with patterned paper. Not my proudest moment but here it is:

The laughing hippo is a Paper smooches stamp, from Zoo crew, and the sentiment is from Li'l inkers desing, Snarky sentiments. The clouds and the grass is a Simon says stamp stencil and all the dies are from Lawn fawn.

Where in the (scrap) world....

...would I be without the ever inspirational Jennifer McGuire?!  Well, I guess I wouldn't be very inspired but on the other hand I'd have a lot more money *lol*

Isn't it funny?

Sometimes you don't realize the greatness of a stamp or die until you've seen it in action. It wasn't until my friend Malin showed me these beautiful cards that I felt that "Everything flower" had to come live with me. I saw them yesterday morning. Last night I put together this card. Having a scrap shop around the corner has its perks.

Malin colored hers beautifully with distress markers but since I'm a lazy bum I embossed my card and then reached for my distress stains and a waterbrush. Once the card was dry I removed the embossing with an iron.

Baked with love

"Baked with love" from Lawn Fawn. What can I say? Love it love it love it! It combines my two great passions: baking and cardmaking. Does it get any better than that??

Chevron

The other night I felt I just had to do something colorful with my (relatively) new playmates from Hero Arts, their shadow inks. Meet Butterbar, Cantaloupe and Bubblegum pink (sounds like something from My little pony...). The chevron stamp is from Lawn Fawn, Chevon backdrops, and the balloon and sentiment from Paper smooches, Hullabaloo.

To keep or not to keep

I wasn't really happy with the result when using an embossing folder on a card base the other day. It was heading for the bin but for some reason I decided to pull out my brayer and some distress paint. Before I knew it there were doilies, flairs, sequins and a bunch of other stuff all over the place. So now instead of heading for the bin it's heading over to my friend's mailbox.

Glitter paper

When in Copenhagen I found some really nice self adhesive glitter paper sheets at Tiger (a Scandinavian equivalent to the Dollarstore) and I had to try it out as soon as I got home.

Behold the humungus amounts I used!

I also got the same stuff but as a roll of tape. I only got two colors but I'm hoping the swedish stores have it as well beacause I need to ger me some more of that glittery goodness.
